Getting to know... Alice Johnson

When a young child is trying to imitate the arias that she can hear floating through her home, then you know that that child is destined to sing. And Alice's dreamy voice is the instrument that gives life to so many of the carefully crafted lyrics of The One Beneath.

Your favourite vocalist and why?

Laura Marling – she has a beautifully earthy voice that is strong yet delicate.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

“Super” – my German friend, Chris (who did the voiceover at the end of our song, Ossi Oswalda), used to say this all the time and I picked it up after living with her in Sheffield.

Which book changed your life and why?

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E Frankl. Read it yourself and you’ll soon see why it’s such an important book.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one TV or movie boxed set to watch, what would it be?

The Sopranos, because I still haven’t seen it the whole way through!
